Tutti i brani dell’album sono di un metal della migliore specie e tra essi spiccano il brano di apertura Now Or Never con le note sprigionate dal sintetizzatore Kurzweil che deliziano le nostre orecchie, creando atmosfere oscuramente profetiche; Wild And Truly Diminished, rock tellurico allo stato puro, un macigno dalle sonorità fortemnente heavy; la dirompente Spontaneous Combustions con le massicce ritmiche del 'mostro' della batteria Ken Mary, che costruiscono un potente muro di suono, dando al brano una forte connotazione heavy.
It Doesn't Have To Be e The Oracle Within sono ricche di melodie gradevoli e ben confezionate.
Intrumental variations è un album assolutamente consigliato non solo ai fans dei CJSS e dei Chastain, ma anche a chi vuole scoprire un formidabile chitarrista.

Alongside his groups CJSS and Chastain, David Taylor Chastain finds time and space to record a entirely instrumental solo album: Instrumental Variations, an album heavy/shred/neoclassical metal with jazz veins.
Guitarist of pure class is not short of giving us explosive solo exercises, that blend intelligently with delicate melodies.
All tracks on the album are of a metal of the best species and among them stand out the opening track Now Or Never with notes released with Kurzweil Synthesizer, that delight our ears, creating darkly prophetic atmospheres; Wild And Truly Diminished, telluric rock in its purest form, a rock-sounding very heavy; the disruptive Spontaneous Combustions with massive rhythmic of the 'monster' of drums Ken Mary, who build a powerful wall of sound, giving the song a strong heavy.
It Does not Have To Be and The Oracle Within are rich of pleasant and well packaged melodies.
